9 Steps to Achieve all of Your 2025 Goals
Are you one of those people that sets goals for the new year, but then has already forgotten about them in February? Well, we are not doing to do that in 2025. In this article, I will outline a 9 step system, informed by psychology and behavioural science, to help you set your goals, and most of all achieve, all of your goals in 2025.
1. Reflect on the Past Year
We can’t really go forward without looking backward. So the first step to effectively set your 2025 goals is to reflect on the year that has just passed. In particular, you can ask yourself the following questions:
What were my biggest achievements?
What lessons did I learn?
How would I describe the year in a few words?
What were my biggest challenges?
What were my favorite moments?
Use this questions to identify what your successes where (and how you achieved them) as well as the areas you aim to improve in 2025.
2. Revisit Your Long-Term Vision
To make sure that the goals you set are relevant to the life you want to build for yourself, the next step is to revisit your long-term goals (all those goals that you would like to achieve in 5, 10 but even 15 years time). Think about what you can do this year to make sure to be one step closer to that long-term goal. This does not have to involve taking any big actions. For example, if you goal is to write a book in the future, this year you could focus on taking a writing course.
3. Set SMART Goals
The third step involves writing down your goals. I like to divide my goals into categories (health, personal development, work, finances and relationships) to make sure that all the areas of my life are covered. Make sure not to write more than 3/4 goals for each category. Also your goals needs to be SMART goals:
Specific: Clearly define what you want to accomplish.
Measurable: Ensure your goals can be tracked and assessed.
Achievable: Set realistic and attainable goals.
Relevant: Align your goals with your values and long-term vision - we have already covered this when linking your yearly goals to your long-term goals in step 2.
Time-bound: Specify a deadline for achieving each goal 0 which in this case, f course, would be the end of 2025.
For instance, instead of saying “I want to work out more,” set a goal like, “I will achieve a 15-20% body fat percentage by the end of 2025.”
4. Create Action Plans
If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. For this reason, the best way to make sure you achieve your goals in 2025 is to make a plan. For each goal, identify three supporting actions you can take two make sure you work towards them. You could also include a timeline to outline what are you going to do in each quarter or month of the year to achieve your goals.
5. Define Your Intentions
In order to have a successful year, it is important to set intentions alongside your goals. The difference between the two is that intention focus on how you want to live and behave, and do not have a specific outcome as goals do. For example:
Be mindful of how and with whom you spend your time.
Live in alignment with your values and personality.
Focus on personal growth and self-care.
6. Build a Vision Board
A vision board is a collection of pictures used to visually represent your goals and aspirations. Vision boards have been demonstrated to help people take actions towards their goals, through the power of manifestation and visualisation. For each of your goals, find a picture to represent it (there are a lot on platforms like Pinterest), and create a digital to physical collage. Put it somewhere you can see it often, to serve as a daily reminder of what you’re working towards to.
7. Develop Daily Habits
The difference between achieving and failing at your 2025 resolutions, is taking action. For this reason, for each goal it is necessary to identify one habit that you can integrate into your daily or weekly routine, to make sure you are working towards that goal consistently. For example, if one of your goals is to improve fitness, commit to a specific exercise schedule or daily steps target.
8. write quarterly and monthly goals
To make sure that you will be working towards your goals consistently, break them down into monthly or quarterly goals. Decide what actions you’ll take in each period to ensure steady progress toward your objectives.
9. Review and Adjust Regularly
The best way to make sure that you will be consistent in achieving your goals is to review them regularly. Set aside time for monthly and quarterly reviews. Reflect on your progress, celebrate wins, and adjust your plans as needed. This helps keep your goals top of mind and ensures you stay on track.
conclusion
By following these nine steps, you’ll create a robust framework for achieving your goals in 2025. Remember, goal setting is an ongoing process, and consistent effort will bring you closer to success.
